**** this, i'm taking this game back. I'll be sure to let all my customers know that buy this game that they're in for a hell ride, and that it's not worth their time. Perhaps profit loss will motivate you jerkoffs.
If he's playing online then he must have a valid CD key. But if you mean that he broke the SecuRom "protection" and can now play without problems, that's certainly true. I made Securom blind for "Disk Emulators" and now it runs on the machine where the original DVD was never being recognized.
I doubt that game companies will learn though. They'll keep listening to the marketing garbage of companies like Securom.
Unfortunately, there has been no solution for this problem yet. I've tried to hack the SecuROM software (as it looks like this is going to be the only way I can play), but to no avail have I gotten it working yet. I'll keep you guys updated.
Unfortunately, I can't find a NoCD crack (it's unfortunate I have to HACK a brand new game I just bought). Also, I took my CDs back to EBGames thinking they were defected and this set doesn't work either. I hate SecuROM.
All I see is the classic situation of the CD protections are so tight, it wont work even if your using the original CD. Personally I've ran into this so many times, I get a 3rd party no-cd patch and it works like a charm. I always check the official patches first, but as usual, it'll be months before they do something about it.
I've looked, but I can't seem to find any permanent solutions for this SecuROM version. Infact, I did get an e-mail back from SecuROM with a file to "fix" my problems. Yeah. It didn't do anything. Thank God SecuROM is out of the country, otherwise i'd make a visit to their offices and get them humble acquianted... with my Louisville Slugger.
I bought it today, and it worked fine (granted i click on the exe in the main folder), I played it for awhile stopped and came back tonight and now I'm getting this stupid "please insert original disc" message. I've been hunting around the web for some kind of solution, and have tried several, but nothing is working. AHHHHH!
I'm still waiting for securom to email me back with a solution that, according to these forums, isn't working all that great. I guess it just doesn't make sense to me that I was able to play it earlier....but as soon as I quit it basically locked me out....
For the record, below is my system specifications:
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 nForce4 SLI Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor
ASUS Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
2 x Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10K RPM Serial ATA150 HDDs (Raid 0)
Memorex 52MAXX 3252AJ USB Device (CD-ROM)
I bought the game yesterday, installed, and the first message I got was "Please insert the original disc instead of a backup. See http://www.securom.com/no_orig_foun d for more details." I tried the game a few more times, rebooting, and then trying again and again. Figuring I might have a bad install, I reinstalled the game. No change. I still get the same errors.
I decided to update all my drivers and my BIOs.
I figured it might be my Virtual CD drive program, so I updated it.
I deleted the Virtual CD drive program.
I updated my Memorex USB Drive drivers.
Tried to procure an "Analysis" report to send to these SecuROM people.
Analysis fails during creation, but still produces a file.
