While it will not be Battlefront 3, it is going to be a Battlefront game! I'm willing to bet we will see something this E3. What is even more fascinating is that they are developing multiple Star Wars games right now.

I'm not a fan of 1.person shooters at all but at this point I'm willing to give everyone a try as long as it revives the Battlefront series.

Does anyone else think there will be an annoncements at E3 and Celebration Europe?

worse news ever

I may of been wanting a new Star Wars Battlefront game for the past 8 years but now I am not even sure i want to see it

but a big NO to DICE,they have slowly been losing the plot and i don't want Star Wars Battlefront to become first person only and to have weapon add-ons and maps charged ridiculous amounts and season passes...aww god,this is just awful news

ANY company than EA.

So basically, this caught my eye:

Lucasfilm Ltd. and Disney Interactive are entering into a multi-year, multi-title exclusive licensing agreement with Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) for the creation of new high quality Star Wars games spanning multiple genres for console, PC, mobile, and tablets.

According to this little snippet it would seem that they will be making console and PC games, which is very promising. However, Disney Interactive will be working on the mobile/tablet games only.

As part of the agreement, EA studio teams DICE (Battlefield series) and Visceral (Dead Space series) will join BioWare (Mass Effect series, Star Wars: The Old Republic) in the development of new Star Wars games.

This is also VERY good for us, as this is a really strong team up now. I can easily see DICE working on the planet side aspect of Battlefront and Viseral working on the space setting. Though, after Battlefield 3 and the lack of ingenuity seen Battlefield 4 I am a bit iffy about DICE.

More information, including titles in development, will be announced in the coming months. Continue to check StarWars.com for updates on the future of Star Wars gaming.

Overall, it would seem that this is actually a really good move for Star Wars and I can foresee that some really good games will come out of this. Hopefully, if the above statement that is underlined is correct, we will get a glimpse of what is to come this summer!!!

I think Battlefront 3 might be in the plans once again!
As just reveald, Lucasfilm/Disney are in argreement with EA to make games the studioes
Visceral, DICE and BioWare are already working on titles.

DICE = BATTLEFIELD = BATTLEFRONT!?

This is a gimmick to show lucasarts we care about starwars games and not just movies. battlefront III looks like its going to be made. Disney just wants to make the release come out with the starwars movies more then likely (unless its canned but disney would have taken down starwars 1313 banner if that was the case too). It would make sense and give more time to show at the game shows.

Okay heres how its works make a profile of your favorite character from starwars until their are none left then befriend yoda (after all the ones known are used up we will make up some). This includes making up your own jedi character out of thin air. I can change the profile for starwars battlefront III status later if everyone wishes.

I have a linked in profile for yoda because I needed to create a profile with a fictional character for my class. Maybe we can promote yoda for a job? or use the profile to create interest in starwars games? This is going to be the funniest thing ever but its so funny it might just work.

LucasArts were a mess,you can't argue with that as they have been for awhile..headless chicken comes to mind when i think of the decisions LA have made in the last few years

If Disney are now licensing out,then another Pandemic company could come along(obviously not Pandemic themselves as EA closed them)...maybe even Free Radical(Crytek UK) could pick up where they left off

Obviously this gen is a loss,but next gen...now that any developer can make star wars game again(after their dumb move to go in-house only last year)

think of all those games that fans have been crying out for...SWBF,KOTOR,Republic Commando,Jedi Knight,X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter.

I am sure companies would love to make a star wars game,and they now have the chance again(i mean even bad star wars games sell great-see Star Wars Kinect)

we may even see an Indiana Jones game again

again,we will have to wait,but hopefully this could be the best thing for us

and hopefully the 150 employees can get new jobs quickly

I will not call it quits. I think I would make the game myself if I have to. Anyone want to create our own starwars type battlefront game? BTW, their would be no red-tape for open source because we decide what gets put into the game. We can have community enhanced mods or new code that does amazing stuff (for latest code updates people would just join the project). what does someone say? I've been itching to do an xna game and release it on the xbox 360 (xna is also in arcade games but some libraries are only available special to xbox arcade developers-> for more information look through microsofts msdn xna documentation for achievements). I hope disney just push's first assualt through and does not dump them to another developer.

Someone at LucasArts said that they are looking at other options for all current projects, including 1313 and other unannounced titles. So they will hopefully be licensing them out to other companies.
