From the Frequently Asked Questions Link, established by Lucas Online:

What do the terms "spam", "troll", "sock" and "flame" mean? Is this OK?

"Spam" is any kind of unsolicited promotion or excessive posting of any kind. On-topic discussion of web happenings are allowed, but the Star Wars message boards are not an appropriate vehicle for traffic generation or production promotion. Spamming is prohibited.

A "troll" is one who is deliberately antagonizing or posts with the main purpose of getting a negative reaction. Trolling behavior is not permitted.

A "sock" (derived from the idea of a "sock puppet") is an individual who posts to the forums using two or more different screen name accounts. Sock behavior is not permitted.

"Flaming" is a personal attack on another member of the message boards. Lively discussion of ideas is important, discussion of each other as people is not. Insults, harassing and other forms of flaming are not permitted.

The 3 largest problems, and misconceptions of late, seem to be about Flaming, Socking, and Spamming.

A note on Flaming-
Flaming is not allowed. Personal attacks are not allowed and can earn you a perm ban. Discuss concepts and things; do not discuss other posters here in a derogatory fashion. There is a big difference between saying "I think you're wrong" and "I think you're stupid" - the 2nd phrase is a flame, the first is just an opinion. Likewise, there is a big difference between saying "I think that's stupid" and "I think you're stupid". The 2nd phrase is a flame, the first is a statement about an idea. Mods will ultimately decide who is exhibiting these behaviors, but if you feel you are the victim of a flame, notify a mod in Forum Feedback.

Keep in mind, however, if its just a heated debate or argument, reporting someone as a "troll" or "flamer" is a waste of time if you just don't happen to agree with that person, but no personal attacks have been made. But someone who says a derogative comment about you, namely name-calling and insults, report it. Do NOT, however, attempt to "fix" it by doing it back. It will get you both banned. Let the mods take care of the person doing the flaming, take the high road.

A Note on Spamming-
Spamming can earn you a perm ban. Period. Spamming is excessive self-promotion, or excessive and repetitive posting, either of comments, or of threads. Filling up a thread or a forum with spam will get you banned most every time.

A Note on Socking-
We have methods of detecting if you have multple accounts, so its best to fess up now if you do. Maintaining multiple active accounts without letting us know can get you banned.

One person = one account, one screen name, that's all you should have, ever.

A Note on Trolling-
Also, if someone continuously antagonizes posters, be it yourself or others, report it. Trolling behavior is not permitted. And make sure you are never guilty of it yourself. If you're posting to goad someone, or to just "see if you can get a reaction" via shock value, or negativity, you're probably trolling.

All 4, but especually spamming and flaming can, in certain circumstances depending on severity, result in a permanent ban without warning. So don't do it.

Trolling, Flaming, Spamming, and Socking are some of the most basic, and most frequent reasons posters get banned on any board. It's easy to avoid, all you have to do is...like..act normal.

Thanks.
