If LucasArts still has all the orginal background art for Monkey 2, as we've seen published in various sources, they'd just need to scan them again in hi-res.

I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time until we get LeChuck's Revenge SE. We all know the first one will sell very well, and doing the second game in the same way is just a given! Do it. I'll Jedi Mind Trick you if you refuse.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to make SMI:SE?

@ThunderPeel2001: Is that the original uncompressed artwork from the original game? It looks great. If that original artwork is so clear and they still have really good quality originals, it'd be a shame if they re-painted every background for MI2. I can understand remaking the character sprites though. I just hope that they dont leech the mood out of the scenes that the original MI2 artwork gave the game.

As for Curse of Monkey Island, if they re-make and change Bill Tillers backgrounds that would suck becuase his art style was perfect for the backgrounds and scenes in CMI. The only thing I can think of that would pose a problem is that the original game isnt widescreen and I'm assuming that most of the non-scrolling or non-panoramic scenes were drawn in 4x3.

One thing's for sure though I think the Lucasarts should REALLY take the advice of the fans for any upcoming remakes. Maybe the ridiculous critiques of various individuals is worth ignoring but things that most of the community agree on should be taken seriously. For example, Guybrush's hairdo that looks like it could be styled by placing an extra large fountain drink cup on top of his head, combing his hair over, gelling it solid, and then removing the cup.

I absolutely love the character art that the guy up above created. Not the shorter chubby one but the taller skinny one. Even though guybrush was a shrimp in the second game I think that the taller character suits his character (maybe I'm just too big of a CMI fan). Didnt they show something exactly like that in the monkey island special edition documentary/trailer when the guy talked about experimenting with making an old Guybrush? When I saw that I was thinking, hey thats guybrush from MI2. Monkey Island 2 is the only time guybrush ever looked like a pirate captain.

Add me to the list of people who hope Monkey Island 2 gets a remake soon. LucasArts, please don't assume we all want to see what ThunderPeel2001 wants to see.

I hope they do a lot more than simply rescan the artwork at higher resolution. I'd rather they update the art style to the silly cartoony look that all the other games now have. The original look of Guybrush in MI2 looks too realistic and serious to fit with the comical tone of the series. I know you're thinking "But that's how they made him originally, they should keep him the same!" But they were severely limited back then by the graphical capabilites. Case in point: as soon as the graphics capabilities were good enough (MI3), they made him look silly and cartoony! He has remained this way in all subsequent sequels and remakes. I believe this was always their original vision.

I hope they do the same kind of thing for MI2 that they did for MI1.

I'm pretty sure they're either already working on the Sequel or will at least Start Soon-Ish...

On that matter I hope they make a better Artwork for the Main character in Part 2 and improve upon the controls.

Not that they were THAT bad, but I sometimes specifically changed to the old version because I didn't want to Re-Open that inventory for 10 times and Scroll through the Verbs about every single time when trying something with items or during that Grog-Puzzle, which I failed at first...

Just something like a Verb-Wheel similar to "The Curse of Monkey Island" or similar Adventures and make the Inventory Popup from the Bottom of the Screen when Scrolling over it on the PC version... Retains the Fullscreen-Experience and makes it a lot easier to use xD

You're wrong. Graphics capabilities were good enough to make characters look silly and cartoony back then. Just look at Day of the Tentacle. It has just the same resolution as SMI&MI2. You could even take a look at the original Maniac Mansion, with much lesser graphical capabilities. It still looked much more silly and cartoony than MI2. I think you only see the comical tone of the series. I guess there's nothing wrong with that, but in that case you have lost out on a lot of the atmosphere in MI2, which is much darker, and much more serious. Take a look at the close up of Guybrush by the fisherman in MI2 to see how he's supposed to look in that game (I see ThunderPeel2001 has used that sprite in his vision of MI2SE, and I love the look of it). Maybe the original look of Guybrush in MI2 looks too realistic and serious to fit with the comical tone of the rest of the series (mainly the sequels), but it certainly fit in with the tone of that specific game, and should remain so. It's not too realistic and serious compared to the first game, but maybe compared to the SE. I do hope they choose a different style for the second game though, closer to the original look of the game, like in ThunderPeel2001's pictures.
