Ok so here is what I did tell me if I did anything wrong.

1)Right-clicked on Battlefront Icon, select "properties".
2)Click on the "Compatibility" tab
3)click on "Change settings for all users" button right above the "OK" button
4)Put a check mark in the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
5)Put a checkmark in the "Run this program as an administrator"
6)Click OK
7)Click OK
8)Right click on Battlefront Icon, select "Run as administrator"
9)Click "Yes" on the User Account control
10)click "Start Game" on the "MAIN" menu
11)At the "Profile management" page click OK
12)At this main menu, hit ctl+alt+del and bring up the Task manager
13)click on "Show processes from all users"
14)Right click "BattlefrontII.exe" select "Set Affinity"
15)Uncheck all boxes, re-check "CPU 0", click OK
16)Go back to the game and click on the "Instant action" button
17)uncheck the "2-flag CTF" leave "Conquest" checked
18)Click on "Coresaunt" to select it as a map to play
19)Click "Launch"

Game exits

Redo steps changing “CPU 0” to “CPU 1”

Game exits

I guess the "Affinity solution" doesnt work. lol On to the next solution. :)

OK so I was able to get the afinity set. Now, when you say "Control Panel" are you talking about in the game or on the computer?

In all honesty, nobody has been able to figure out what exactly is causing it, be it bad scripting, a driver issue or a problem with the OS response to a plugged in device, or even DirectX playing up. Wish we knew, it would enable the community to patch it.

Several optional solutions:

Rightclick and start as administrator. If you're on XP, skip this step.

When you start the game, press ctrl alt del and bring up the taskmanager. Go to the processes tab, rightclick on the .exe from
battlefront 2 and click "set afinity". unselect all but 1 cpu. click okay. leave taskmanager minimized and go back to the game.

Go to controlpanel
Go to sound and audio devices
Audio tab
In all the drop down menus, select the ACTUAL sound device, and not something random like "modem #0 line playback". Save.
In the game options, change the mixer setting to SOFTWARE.

If neither work, change the mixer settings ingame to Disable.

If disable works, but you want to play with sound: try to plug something in the microphone port. A mic or a headset doesn't
seem to matter, for some even an extensioncord works. try a few. (NOT
iPOD EARPHONES!)

So I start Battlefront II, click on "Instant Action" (NOT going online), click to add a map, click the "Launch" button, Battlefront II exits and Im back to the desktop. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and nothing. I downloaded the update for it, nothing. At this point I'm not even sure if it is a graphics problem or a software problem. What do yall think?

Here is what I am running:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor 3.16 Ghz
NVIDA GeForce GT 430 graphic card
4GB DDR2 RAM
625 GB WD Hard Drive
Legend
