Just a tip I had the same problem with my XP system. IF you have any sort of internet security program. (I was running Kaspersky) FOC comes up as a dangerous program due to certificate or something. I solved this by either turning off the virus/ internet security. OR go into settings and make sure the program is not blocked. Even if you click on limit activity it will not work. It will always come up with the error message "cant load disc. Insert FOC disc etc". Anyways I noticed many people have had this problem and this worked for myself. So just a pointer.

I have two computers, one running Windows Vista and one running Windows XP. FOr a while, it worked on my Vista, but then it stopped. I can't re-install it because I lost the manual, which has the code on it. However, it runs fine on my computer running XP. What's going on?

I doubt that will work for them. I had a heck of a time trying to get FOC to work on my computer, but here's how I did it:
http://download.securom.c om/support/srdiag.zip
That's it. Download it, unzip it, and run it with the FOC disc in the disc drive. That should work without a doubt (theoretically, at least). I hate SecuROM, but at least they made this diagnostic to help fix problems like these. |

Hey guys, I found something. I was having the same exact problem, but I found a solution.
This page that I found:
http://www.lucasa rts.com/support/update/EAWFOC1_1.html
It contains the 1.1 patch and down at the bottom contains the RAM fix. That RAM fix is what did it for me.

I also am having this issue. Not to addon to this already long list. :P Hopefully somebody finds a answer to this fast. I have the store bought CD. Regular EaW works just fine on my new laptop so far. I am running Windows 7. I have spent the last two days trying to get FoC to work on it too.  BUT it won't. I am starting to think that there is a bug somewhere in the code for FoC that wont let a older game run on a pretty new OS. heh. Anyways, just thought I would add my name to the list. Get this fixed soon please as many of us would like to play.  |

I had this problem too. I found out that you need to turn off a fire wall in order to play the game, this same thing happend on Star Wars Galaxies.

Hi guys. I have a possible fix for you. My Lite-on IDE DVD burner did this, too. I updated the firmware and haven't had any more trouble. It can be tricky to find firmware, but it's worth a try

I too have this problem, but mine is a DVD drive and i'm using a CD version, which shouldn't make a difference, but might. I have tried a number of ways, like going to my computer and trying to start it that way, reinstalling the patch...you name it i've probably tried it. I always get it to start...after about 10 trys on the auto lanuch/taking CD out checking for scratches/making sure the reader on drive works...the longest it has taken me is one hour to get it to start...that was after reinstalling it twice. Anyway, great game once it starts. When i do play its when i have about 10 hours or so to devote to playing it since i don't know when i'll be able to get back on it. I am thinking about sending in the disc and asking whats the matter with it.

This problem has existed on multiple lucasarts games. Battlefront2, Empire at War and now the expansion. There will be no help, there will be no magic solution.
My suggestion- take the game back as defective, if the store will only do an exchange then exchange it open it and then take it back, keep doing that until they issue store credit or give you a refund. (oh and a printout of the securom topic will not hurt your case either.)
This is what I did, after the printout and 4 copies returned to bestbuy(of battlefront 2 they issued me store credit)
To those who can not return it.......look around you may find help "elsewhere".

i have the problem too , this is a joke , a complete joke , lucasarts are more than happy for us to go out and spend on their merchandise but as soon as theres a big problem ... it seems as tho they are pushing it under the carpet > ( i am annoyed

Anyone any progress on this issue? Played the game for months, modded and all, with no trouble whatsoever. Then one day...
EAW still works fine, its just FOC thats gone nuts.
Suffice to say its more than mildly irritating.

Just a suggestion but GET RID OF THE FREAKIN SECUROM. You aren't stopping the pirates, so all you are really doing is screwing over your loyal paying customers.

Same problem here. Game ran fine for about a month and now I get the "Original disc cannot be found or authenticated" message. You know it's no wonder there is rampant piracy, between this and EAW I'm out 50 bucks and I can't play the game. This is about as lame as it gets...

I had the same problem, and I have to say that loading the original disk does actually work with me. As for installing, it took me several times of taking the disc in and out several times and after ages loading it eventually worked!

Guys, there will be no help on this issue. Look back on the SecuRom problems people had. LucasSmitty said "thanks for you patience on this issue, we are looking into it" That was back in Feb and it is almost 2007. Lucas will leave you to hang with this problem but in the meantime give false promises.

So nice i first have a problem installing, i get around the problem install the game then 2 days later i now get this............... Did they even test this game for bugs?!?!?!?!?!? cause atm it seems like they just went ahead and released it.
