Well alright that explains the 'widescreen fix' , but i never use mods so that's why I did not know of it.

I had already tried that link posted forum for 4 times before applyng to this forum as a last resort, but thanks anyway.
Sorry to bother you. It is just that all the games I have, runs perfectly on this system so that is why I also was so persistent to find a fix.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciated it :)

Nononono, i said, Nocd cracks can CAUSE it.

And if you dont know the widescreen fix, you dont have it. it;s a third party mod.

Vista... /sigh/... http://www.lucasforum s.com/showthread.php?t=194296

Thanks for the tips.
Yes I get the 'name has stopped working' error.

I already had installed the DirectX files you mentioned for KOTOR1 but I will try it again.

Where can I find the 'widescreen fix' . Is it in the file where you needed to add a line in the 'ini' file 'Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1' ?

I do not use a cd-crack but did look for it and the file is smaller then the updated file in the patches.
Can try that option to.

"Windows has Shutdown"? Do you mean a Blue Screen or the error "name Has stopped working"?

This can have so many causes..

Windows 7. - Explains itself.
DX10/11. - This game hates anything above 9.0C. Yes i know 9.0 comes with 10 and 11, but the files are part of 10/11, and thus the ame conflicts.
Resolution of the game. - Try setting your monitor resolution to the same one you're using in the game. (and if you're using the "widescreen fix", delete it.)
Videocard. - DO NOT BUY COMPUTERS WITH INTEGRATED INTEL GPU CARDS...
Are you running a No-CD crack? (those can be used on legal versions as well, so i have to ask.)
Deamon tools/anything else with a virtual drive.
Faulty Install
Unstable System
Faulty Drivers
Registry Error (not common, but it happens)

Try installing http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?familyId=3b170b2 5-abab- 4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d&displayLang=enIt;s a full version of DX9.0C which installs alongside 10 and 11, but works standalone.
(delete the stupid spaces this forum adds)

Try reinstalling the game.

Wonder if people are ever going to realize running a game on an incompatable system is going to crash it... Probably not.

I have a different problem with the game and it is known on more forums on the web.
I tried SecuROM but they gave me lack in what to do.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 Dual Core Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and installed Kotor 2.
Had no problems with Kotor 1 and it was an awesome game.
But when I start Kotor 2 the intro movies and the menu´s work fine just as the character creation process. But after this the problems come by.

When I click on play it plays the intro movie and the Ebon Hawk flies by which ends the video.
But then I see 3 seconds of the interieur of the Ebon Hawk and a droid sound which then Windows shutsdown the game and the known error comes in ´Windows has shutdown....´.

I have the patches installed, replaced the Mss32.dll file with the updated one and gave in the Comtability option to use Windows XP SP2 and also Administrator rights.
I have also used those options with installing the game and let the game run on one Core.
But all has not helped me.

Another thing is that when I skip the intro of the Text scroll and the Ebon Hawk sequence after the character creation process, the game also shutsdown, but now right away instead this 3 seconds I can see in-game above.

I'm completely stuck at the moment and bought the game today.
I hope there is still something to do about this?

If you have an ATI video card then I recommend reviewing the following thread for possible solutions to lag on Dantooine.
