What if people from the same household use their
accounts back and forth?

Got a question, what if a banned member has a new
e-mail address, how will you know its them or someone
else.

From The Big 4 - Spam, Troll, Sock, Flame...definitions, and a reminder
A Note on Socking-
We have methods of detecting if you have multiple accounts, so its best to fess up now if you do. Maintaining multiple active accounts without letting us know can get you banned.

One person = one account, one screen name, that's all you should have, ever.

Regardless of detecting multiple accounts, most users who are banned from the forums and come back as a Sock account generally give themselves away by either doing the same behavior that got them banned in the first place, or by acting worse.

Unless you really fly off the handle with behaviors that either a) severely disrupt the forums, or b) make me spend more than 10 minutes deleting/locking posts... it's pretty unlikely that you'll be immediately banned.

More than likely, you'll get a warning about the behavior. If it continues, then it may result in a ban.

Now... if I have to spend more than 10 minutes cleaning up the mess you caused... that's another story.

It seems like not too many people have any other pressing questions for this topic. So unless there is further need, I'm prepared to lock this and simply keep it as a sticky (TDE) for reference.

I'd hope so.

Anyways, How much trolling do you have to do before getting banned?
Because sometimes trolling just comes out without much thought...

Is there any way to stop banned members from coming
back on new accounts? Can you check their personal
details when they sign up to see if it's the same
person?

I believe so, but I believe access to said info is limited to admins.

I'm not sure about LA but most user based sites can ban use by IP address.

I'll leave this thread open for just a bit in case there are any important questions. Please do not post in this thread unless you have something important to ask.

Trolls: Please do not feed the trolls. If someone is obviously here to cause problems, ignore them, or report them in the Forum Feedback section. When you reply to them, you only encourage them. Furthermore, you create more work for the mods here.

Troll posts will be locked or deleted. Replies to troll posts will therefore also be locked or deleted. So, if a troll makes 5 posts, we only have 5 posts to delete. If only 3 members reply to those posts... we now have 15 posts to delete.

Please do not feed the trolls.

Banned Members: Please do not post or make new threads regarding banned members. This only encourages them to come back and cause further problems. If you have questions for the mod staff about a banned member, use the Forum Feedback section. Posts such as these in normal threads cause the threads to be derailed, and therefore require mod action to remove them.

Most importantly, do not clutter or muck up regular threads with these posts. Use the Forum Feedback section.

Thank you.
