They did both.
They threw an asteroid at Earth because the Asgards have a treaty with the Goa'uld that prevents the Goa'uld from directly attacking Earth. So they send an asteroid Earth's way, blaming it on nature. Besides, Anubis loves his melodrama.  |

Of course I was aware that the internet was going to be a military asset before released to the public.
I find interesting that the aliens in Stargate wanted get rid of us, why lob an asteriod the size of Mt.Everest at us whether then bombardment from space? Now that is realistic.

Stargate is cool in all, but I hate how the miltary manages to keep quiet of already existing space technology and how their are ALIENS in the galaxy! Grrrrrrrr. :'C

As in, the original film? The one about Ra?
The show is infinitely better. The actors are ever so much more incredible. (Richard Dean Anderson in Space. Really, can it get any better?)
The first season's a bit slow, but it really starts going from halfway season 2. About the time they meet the Tok'Ra, really. Also, make sure you watch the remastered edition of Children Of The Gods (Pilot episode). It makes more sense.

Y'know, I really need to watch Stargate SG-1 at some point. I've only ever seen Stargate the movie. I trust the TV show was pretty true to the epicness of the movie?

Why is it that I have to pay €25/$33 for my shampoo in the Netherlands, and €6/$8 in Germany? Same with the hairdye. €18/$23 in NL, €3/$4 in Germany. (not that they have this colour in NL..)

That is true, but because I only English, my understanding of accent marks is very limited. Now, I know I can make up the accent mark sounds, but I would like to have a greater knowledge of how 'real' accent marks sound.
