I think you have the Windows 95 version of the game, so you can'y play it using DOSBox.

HI,

I'm having similar problems but I am more experienced with dosbox.

Each time I attempt to install anything from x-wing collectors series using dosbox I get the following message: "this program can not be run in DOS mode"

confusing because having searched around a bit I'm told it works well on dosbox.

I'm having issues with virtually all lucasart games and am beginning to hate windows 7 with a passion!

Yes, that is correct... Do not know why it does not work. (you should ask in Dosbox forums).

You can make an image of your CD (*.iso) and mount it:

Z:\>IMGMOUNT E C:\Images\MyImage.iso -t iso

I have never tried that but it should work. Check this page for more information:

http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/MOUNT

Let us know if you were able to play the game at last...

Greetings.

How exactly did you mount your cd-rom drive? please, tell me exactly what did you type.

This seems like it's the direction I need to go, however when I mount my CD drive in DOSBOX it stops responding.

Actually it is very easy playing it with DOSBOX (you need some Dos skills)

-Make a new directory, for example "Dosgames".
-Install Dosbox.
-Run Dosbox.
-Mount your virtual Dos harddrive

Something like this:
z:\> mount c: c:\dosgames

then, put the game in your DVD drive (let's say "f" drive")

mount your CD-Rom drive:

z:\> mount d f:\ -t cdrom

now change to your new "d" drive:

z:\> d:

Install de game (type install)

Let me know if you can install the game now...

Greetings.

So I have scoured the internet for help with XWINGCD and I've found nothing...it seems like the few solutions that have existed in the past are long gone because of how old the game is.

I have literally no idea where to even begin with attempting to install XWINGCD. Has anyone done this successfully? I have the original CD-ROM. I don't know anything about DOSBOX although I've been trying to figure it out.

Has anyone had any success, or would be able to give me a step-by-step guide for making it work in Windows 7? Or is it even possible?
