I'll try to be brief. Let me start by saying that in my experience there are two types of
videogames: the type you play until you beat it once, say "that was fun," and maybe play it again
in a few years; then there's the type of game where you really get into the story, you become
attached to the characters, and when you finish it, you say "I can't wait to play that again." The
Force Unleashed (I and II) is definitely one of the second type of games.
In The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition, I loved how the gameplay flowed as if I were
playing out a movie. I was thrilled by the spectacular use of Force powers, not just to defeat
diverse enemies, but to solve puzzles in the environment as well. I fell in love with the characters
of Starkiller/Galen Marek, Juno, PROXY, and Kota; these are characters who really connect with
you, you want to see them succeed, you want to see them make it through alive, you want things
to turn out well for them. I was especially pleased with the game's theme of love and redemption
winning out over darkness and hate. And in the end, when Starkiller lay dead and the Alliance
was born, I felt great satisfaction–both that STAR WARS canon was not disrupted but
complemented, and that this character had died in the most noble and worthy manner
possible–but, I also felt sad to know my adventures with Galen Marek were over.
When I first head rumors of The Force Unleashed II, I was elated. But then I wondered, "he
died at the end of number 1, so how does this work?" When I learned Kamino was involved in
the game, I automatically figured Vader had cloned his body and his spirit had entered it (much
the same as the Reborn Emperor in the Dark Empire comics). The second game was, by-and-
large, no disappointment either in story or gameplay. One of the things I loved the most about it
was Starkiller's knowledge that even though he wasn't sure who he was, Juno was all that
mattered. The end of The Force Unleashed II left me hanging; how could this story end happily
and not disrupt already-recorded STAR WARS history? That remains to be seen.
In the end of this saga, I'd like to it finish out with Vader being convinced Starkiller is dead,
Starkiller revealed not to be a clone, and Juno and Starkiller married and pursuing a more covert
approach to fighting the Empire. In short, a happy ending. Both Juno and Starkiller have been
through enough, and they've both already died once; what good would it do to kill them again?
In addition to my views on TFU so far, I have come up with an exciting story of what I'd like
The Unleashed III to be. It includes all the elements mentioned above, a new arsenal of Force
powers that would be simple to implement, an entire storyline, including epic "boss"
battles and two dark side/light side choices, and ways to include both environments such as
Mustafar and Coruscant. If anyone (especially Lucasarts) is interested, let me know.
