My ideas for a Star Wars game, well I have a rather specific Star Wars game in mind. Star Wars: The Old Republic.
I'm gonna take a lot of heat for this, bur please remember that it's just a suggestion and you have the possibility to tell me to F*** off.
I would like them to incorporate school into this new MMO, when I say school I mean the universal subjects like Math, Chemistry and Physics. These subjects could be relevant in the game. There must be some science to the technology (lightsabers, blasters, spaceships) they have.
- First, Bioware would contact terrific teachers and learn what defines a good teacher. Equipped with this knowledge, they would make a curriculum for Math* (first) ranging from easy to advanced. *Because it's the most common subject in the whole world.
- Second, they would create goals to which this knowledge would benefit. Example: To improve your blaster rifle or upgrade your spaceship you need to invent the technology yourself, using some mathematic formula. Which creates motivation to learn more and more. Cause with this you have the possibility to give instant rewards in form of character progression, unlike real life when it's first at your job it matters.
- Or create some other motivating factors.
- It could be made with Interactive lectures (animated of course). Even NPCs appearing to be real people, struggling so that the real players would feel better. (A lot of human motivation comes from being good at something and skill is measured amongst others.)
- The key thing would be balance, not too much school, but not too much play. The premise would be that knowledge will help you. Come on George Lucas, you went on "The O.C. to inspire people about the importance of American Traditions like Prom, or so I've heard. This must definitely rank somewhere up there?
All in all this would be an incentive to make school fun. However it would have to be made very well to not be boring, but you at LA and Bioware might pull it off.
Why do this?
- Well, first off imagine doing homework playing the most incredible MMO made to this day.
- Most people who play MMO's are kids (under 18), they get their money from parents. There are probably many more who want to play, but their parents may be withholding. They don't want their kids playing some game taking up their time and giving nothing more than entertainment back. If a fun game came out, which excites kids for homework and is homework. Parents would literally force it on their kids, although they wouldn't have to. Suddenly the 12 million playing Wow would be nothing.
- I doesn't need to be just for kids, adults might buy it to learn more. I'm currently struggling through Vectors, Differential equations and more, all the while thinking. "What will I use this for?". You have a huge market here as well.
- It does not require too much, you could start off simple with math for kids and then expand as you go.
- I'm not proposing changing the whole universe you've worked so hard on. Just make an expansion pack incorporating this in an alternate server(s). So that we still have the normal MMO and that this is an option for those who want it.
LucasArts:
Please, this would be a serious moneymaker, and if you're about more than money, think of how you will educate and help the world. The media would broadcast this "expansion pack" all over the world. The publicity of LucasArts would change from just a games developer to include saint. Is there really more incentive I can give you to make this?
If the "Terms of Use" is stopping you from doing this, just hire me and you can legally do this.

Well, until then, I was curious as to if you had anything currently published on the App Store, as you mentioned you could develop for iOS. If so, I'd like to check it out if you'd give me the company name under which you post apps so I would, in that case, be able find your App Store apps. Thanks.

OK, I will mail you when I have some free time, I'm involved in a project these days, I won't be able to try to make a Pazaak game right now, but I will keep this idea in mind.
I think that LucasArts really must make such star wars gambling games for mobile devices, people are usually willing to play such kind of games on their mobile phones, while they are traveling, waiting for something or just having time to kill.

Cool. The rules of Pazaak are much simpler than those of Sabaacc, almost a variation of blackjack, so I can send some reference pictures, links, and rules if you'd like to try and write an application for the game.
Just email me if you want so I can get back to you at the following:

I would be able to create one, playable on Android, iOS and Blackberry OS, if I get a list of the rules and maybe images of how it should look. I thought about making a Sabacc game, but I couldn't find complete rules.

What I would like to see is, since probably wouldn't be the most viable to make trading packs, a Pazaak app for the Apple app store based on the mini game from the KotOR series. I could see it selling for 99¢, just like many of their other apps. They could even make it a multiplayer mode which, as long as it's not a server-based type multiplayer mode, wouldn't cost them anything to keep on the app store. It could be easily developed for the iPod Touch and iPhone just like many of the blackjack games you see there, and could have a full-sized version for the iPad which would work great iPad-to-iPad. With the right marketing, it would not only appeal to fans of KotOR, but also people who enjoy card games. Unfortunately, this would probably never be considered by LucasArts, but it would be pretty cool if it was done.

Like I said before, I would like a strategy oriented game like Empire at War.. but I got some more ideas now, about such kind of game. It would be great if you could actually think of strategies that will make a real difference. Like in the New Jedi Order books, the Rogue Squadron found a tactic that allowed them to take down coralskippers a bit more easily. To be allowed to play with the shields, with the programming of torpedoes and etc.

My list of Star Wars game ideas include, but are not limited to:
-A straightforward Star Wars saga game for the major consoles like PS3, 360, Wii, PC and such and the game goes through every one of the 6 movies from beginning to end, and not Lego Star Wars. I'm talking about playing as all of the major characters, epic boss fights, special abilities, unlockable features and all that in a lengthy game that provides some challenge for people. I'm sure LucasArts can fill in other details.
-Bounty Hunter 2 sequel (same basic idea but better graphics and this one features Boba Fett and some other bounty hunters like Bossk or Dengar).
-Star Wars Starfighter 3 to coincide with Episode 3, since SF 1 and 2 each followed with Episodes 1 and 2. Maybe one of the main characters could be a specialized clone trooper or something.
-Battlefront 3 also needs to hit consoles with more planets. Don't know if they're making it right now or not.
-"The Jedi Wars" You could play asJedi from the series and play as them throughout most of the saga. And not just regulars like Obi-Wan or Anakin, I mean minor Jedi who didn't get to do much in the movies. You can upgrade your powers kinda like in Jedi Knight.

I think we need some more strategy oriented Star Wars games, similar to Empire at War. Empire at War, especially with the expansion FOC is a great game, but I would be very happy if a similar game be created, but following the Yuuzhun Vong war (not sure I typed the name correctly...) and the Second Galactic Civil War, where Jacen Solo becomes Sith... then maybe it can continue somehow with war with the Lost Tribe of Sith, during the Fate of the Jedi era, but we are yet to see how Abeloth will be defeated and what will happen with the Lost tribe of the Sith...

Why not make a complete new Star Wars game, where you can choose a beginning creature (Wookie, Human, Kaminoan, you name it!) Start as a padawan, choose your own name and gender and be taught the ways of the Force, by master Yoda or other Jedi Masters, with the posibility to choose between Good and Evil.
A complete free-roam world, where you can do every possible thing in the world of Star Wars. Traveling in all kinds of verchiles to all kinds of planets. Having the posibility to recruit creatures to fight for and with you. Not only fight with a lightsaber, but with guns too. Online possibilities, like Podracing, Clan wars, you name it.
A game where you can level your skills, become stronger than your foes. Learn force powers to kill your enemies or to screw around with. Command creatures like Rancors to fight for you. Make in-game and even online friends or foes.
A world where you can build and destroy every possible thing. Places where you can kill everyone who's standing in your way. Do missions, given by anyone, whether it's for the Jedi or the Sith.
Hope you like the idea. Please tell me what you think.
This sounds almost like the upcoming SW:TOR. I would like to see a Star Wars game with a good, interactive storyline like KotOR, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy like combat and the possibility to use vehicles like in Battlefront II. In addition there could be a coop mode or online mode to round up the package

As I understand it these two titles are LONG DEAD from a pre-production stand point. Little to no hope of them EVER seeing the light of day. But what we really need is a deep, well written FPS.
I hold strong to the fact that said FPS should be a revisit to Kyle Katarn and pit him against the Yuuzhan Vong. With the half hour let down that was TFU2 and the recent beating the Clone Wars dead horse with a stick, it's time we pick up the EU post Jedi again!!!!

Remember that the tcw games was from Krome Studios (died company now, hehe).
Unreal Engine 3 is very heavy things if you lock at the latest version of it. Lucasarts really need a game that goes home with the critics, reviewers. Now with to few successes and to many money-making games, Lucasarts has been hit hard as a company brand.
Lego SW 3 has hit the shelfs and the Kinect game is for just one console. TOR is only for PC(and were Lucasarts have no part in). They need something heavy for all the big consoles.

I thought this up months ago and it's ruined all other games for me.
You design your character like in Kotor: skills and attributes and the like. You also have Saint's Row 2-like visual customization with the intricacy of Oblivion. You choose personality types and preferences. Basically, you get full character customization. You also choose what planet your character was born on out of a bank of planets. This serves as a personality, appearance, and speech base.
The control scheme is a combination of jedi academy and mass effect 2. The right wheel (activated by RB for Xbox) brings up power ups--including force powers if you choose to be a Force-user. The left wheel (LB) brings up weapons. The game handles like a Grand Theft Auto or Saint's Row game. You play from third person (it'd be cool if you could alternate between view types, but it's not necessary for me) and you have a sprint and (unlike GTA) quick melee button. Although the movement would be like GTA, the camera angle and fluidity would be more like Mass Effect.
For lightsaber combat, I would advance the Jedi Academy setup because it was pretty hard for most people to get used to. When you actually engage someone who also has a lightsaber the camera moves to the right behind your character with an automatic lock on. Controls are basically the same as Jedi Academy aside from this. However, the right stick can be used for an alternate control. You could use it for attack angles or use it for balance. For instance, there's a meter on the bottom that has a target that moves with your character and you have to match the target to keep a center of balance which will make your attacks and defense more fluid.
For versus, the game would be the same except instead of the powerwheels you can cycle through powers like in Academy or you can use hotkeys. I would also like a co-op feature or even a master padawan system. You don't have to have a master training you, but if you do you get an experience boost or something.
As far as the story goes, if it fits all or most of my guidelines, I could care less (as long as basic canon isn't screwed with like in the Unleashed games). I'd play the fool out of the game either way. However, I'd want the game to have continued play and, of course, good replay with multiple plots options and stuff. I'd like it if you could visit multiple planets like in Mass Effect except a little more stuff to do: unimportant side quests, jobs, relationships (like in Fable).
I don't know if I left anything out, but it was long enough either way. THIS IS MY IDEAL GAME. It haunts my dreams.

...but I like the idea of customizing your trooper. Like you pick thier weapons, and what they keep in thier hip pack (thermo detonators or what not) and then you're basically stuck with that. No picking up rocket launchers on the battlefield, but also not just stock trooper types to choose from between each death. Of course you could create multiple troopers, but rank would grant more advanced weaponry along some form of weapon tree based on what you start out with when you're a shiney rookie.
