I have a Nvidia Quadro FX go1400 and every time I launch the game it opens but minimize into the task bar and each time I try to maximize it by clicking on it , it stays on for half a second and then minimize again. Anyone has a solution for that ?

Dell finally released a driver
No crashing on My Dell Inspiron 9300 with NVidia 6800go.
Last one was in November.
Space Battles don't crash--I've played the first two space battles--no crashes--yea!
Hopefully my experience with the other levels will be as good.
Release Title: Video: nVidia GeForce Go 6800, Driver, Windows XP, Multi Language, Inspiron 9300, v.84.30, A05
Release Date: 4/12/2006

The first single player mission in the campaign was fine. After that, both space and random land crashes where I have to hard boot to get back into it.
Dell XPS 600
nVidia 7800 GTX x2 in SLI mode
Creative Labs xFi sound card
2 gigs ram
P4 HT 3.8ghz cpu
The game is patched through to 1.1, video and audio drivers to the latest versions. It seems these problems have been going on for a LONG time and still no concrete resolution to it. Come on Lucasarts, get this fixed. I've been a fan since X-wing and Tie Fighter, but this is pissing me off.

Here's a response I got back from tech support about my inspiron 9300 with an NVidia 6800go and a fresh 1.1 patch and my space battle crashes. Guess I'm out of luck on playing this game...even though it fits the system requirements stated on the box and the NVidia 6800GO is NOT listed as an incompatible graphics card in the FAQ for the game....any LA people care to comment?
Hello,
Some of the Direct3D functionality required to run the game was stripped
from the Go series of the GeForce video cards to meet the lesser power
requirement of a laptop machine. (You can tell the Go series is a
different chipset. You can't even use the Forceware drivers meant for
the GeForce series of cards.) These video cards are generally not
powerful enough to run the game.

Lord T and I figured it out...
It helps a little bit in that he can now play a few land maps before the game crashes.

Here is a link that may have some drivers that you can try. These have a modified .inf file so that it can "see" your video card when installing. Let us know if it works or not.

I have a nVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Ultra video card, and as stated up above, Battlefront II crashes every so often. I have been told that downloading drivers for the video card should solve the problem, but my problem is that I cannot find the right drivers to download for the Go 6800 Ultra. If anyone knows where to get the updated drivers for this card, please let me know.
84.12
81.98
81.87
81.85
All of those drivers did not work.

Where did you get that driver? I have that same problem as you had with the same exact video card. I'm trying to find a driver for Go 6800 but I'm having no luck. Please help me out.

I dont know if this is known or if it will help anyone or not, but I had Anti-Aliasing turned on to 4x through NVidia settings. I forgot about this and turned Anti-Aliasing on in the game to 4x as well. Once I did this I started getting game freezes with sound. I turned off the in game anti-aliasing and just let my global setting through NVidia do it and this resolved the in game freezing for me. I have Dual Core Opteron and still have to set the affinity to one core or the other or else I'll get crashes.

I have finally found a cure! I sniffed on this AMD X2 thread and read bout a program called ROPE. You can all get it from innes.org. Basically what it does, it forces the application You select to run on a single core. Somehow PowerStrip didn't do it.
From what I read in that thread, the dual X2 processors have a hard time staying in sync and that causes problems in other applications.
And to make it simple for all of You, I'll give an example, how to use this program:
You have a regular dektop shortcut to BFII:
"C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\LaunchBFII.exe"
If You install the ROPE program in the default folder, the new shortcut to BFII will look like:
"C:\Program Files\innes.org\ROPE\ROPE.exe" -f 0 -n "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\LaunchBFII.exe"
This will cause the application LaunchBFII.exe to be run on the '0' processor.
Read also that it solves issues with many games, that have problems running on a dual-core rig. All You have to do is to copy-paste the first part to your new shortcut. And voila. Games run like on a normal one-core machine. Not that they used the second core in the first place...
Hope it helps!

I agree LANSHARK. I've tried all the tips in this forum, and while the game crashing (complete lockup) has subsided, I still have problems every now and then with the game messing up my keyboard or mouse. Usually when the new objective screen comes up, it is here where either my keyboard or mouse stop working, and nothing but a system reboot gets them working again.
I've played games before that acted kind of quirky. In fact, GuildWars had the same sound/crash bug until it got patched. Yet, I have never had such a hard time keeping a game up and running as this one. It seems everytime I run this thing, something new or strange happens that kills the game play
I hope this patch fixes the core problems, but I'm not too optomistic at this point.

Well, I hope they are patching this soon. I've tried most of the suggestions in here but I'm getting nowhere. A brand smacking new XPS 600, 3.8 Ghz processor, 2 GB of memory, X-Fi SB, and dual 7800's and of all the software I've tried - this is the only one with problems. It installs and runs fine for the training missions. It runs without error through the first mission. Upon completing the 1st mission - BAM - falls to the desktop. I have a hard time believing the problem is with the sound card since it works fine for training and the first mission. The processor is HT, but not a dual-core processor so it shouldn't be choking there either. I saw that they are testing a patch for release, but I don't know how this got out the door in the shape it is in.

I'm not sure if this has been posted (I didn't read through the whole thread), but I've used drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ for my ATI card and it has fixed a lot of headaches. He has drivers for NVidia also, and I recommend his software.

i have a 6800 GO on my laptop and my game crashes
when i have space battle, however, guys, you can make
it uncrash, i downloaded a tweaked version of the
most current driver, its only avaliable for 6800 GO
but i am sure its avaliable for desktop versions as ll
Where did you find the modified version....?
I'm obviously having the same space 'crash' issue as everyone else....
I can't believe they issued the game in this condition...pushed it for xmas-_greedy bastards..._
I'm running 6800 Go on a Dell 9300 (upgraded to XPS spec's)
Dells latest Drivers wont work and Nvidia doesnt support the Go Drivers...

Slayer.. that worked for me too..
my kid is always taking my cd's out and putting hers in..
so I used that crack to get past needing to have my cd in everytime..
I haven't tried it with dual core but changing the affinity to 1 cpu the games works wonderfully.. also updating to newest nvidia drivers didnt hurt either..
Intel 830 chip w/Nvidia 6800 and SB X Fi..
and this game is working just fine, for a change..

If anyone has Geforce 6800 GT AGP BFG told me I should run with 71.89 driver with that card, I have run the game with not changeing the compatability mode or disableing the sound the only thing is that i am running at medium resolution in the game.
